my story
Hey, I’m Dallas, a 32-year-old photographer based in Lakeland, Florida. I’ve been passionate about photography since I was 15 years old, and for the past 10 years I’ve worked full-time as a freelance photographer.
After years of constantly staying busy with client work, I started feeling burnt out and disconnected from the reason I fell in love with photography in the first place. Wildlife photography/ videography became an outlet for me — a way to slow down, spend time outdoors, and find peace away from the pressure of everyday work.
Living in Florida opened my eyes to how incredible the wildlife is here, especially the bird life. I quickly became obsessed with documenting birds, learning their behaviors, and spending hours exploring wetlands, lakes, and backroads searching for new species to document. The more time I spent around them, the more I realized how little most people truly notice or understand about these animals.
In January of this year, I started a social media series called Capturing All of Florida’s Birds, and that’s when everything started changing for me. What began as a personal project turned into an opportunity to share not only photos and videos, but also educate others and hopefully bring more awareness and appreciation to these incredible creatures and the environments they depend on.
Most mornings you can find me out before sunrise with a camera in hand, chasing light, sounds, and whatever birds the day decides to bring.
I’m grateful for everyone following along on this journey, and I’m excited to continue exploring and documenting the wild side of Florida one bird at a time.
